Girl on a brand new site!

Hi!

To whomever is reading this, let me just say that I’m SO glad you’re here! I’ve taken a few swings at blogging before but always felt – if I’m honest – a bit out of my depth. My last blogging pursuit was a page that still holds a piece of my heart titled, “Girl on Rock.” This name was a nod to my love of rock climbing, ‘girl on rock’ being a phrase one might use to indicate to their belayer that they are ready to begin their ascent. It is still the name I use for the bulk of my social media and will likely remain as such for a long time. It only made sense, then, to call this page “Girl on Books.”

Books truly are sensational things, aren’t they? How wonderful it is that one hobby can encompass so much! No more feeling limited by a singular subject matter for this girl.

So, what can you expect from this page?

First, this page will be political; everything IS political and I’m not going to pretend otherwise on this platform. The safety of marginalized voices in this space is always going to be a priority for me. I will delete comments that I feel disrupt that. I am going to get things wrong and I am prepared to be corrected. I’ll try to be as graceful about that as I can. I hope this page will be a place for me to connect with whomever is reading these words about our mutual interest in learning to be better humans. If you’d like to talk books, sustainability, social justice, or even climbing, please don’t hesitate to find me on Instagram or Goodreads. I will do my best to respond to every email, but truth be told, I’m on GR and The Gram the most.
