A quick peek at the books I’m prioritizing right now (plus a few new ARCs)
Full disclosure, I only got through two of my Pisces Season hopefuls. I still am planning to read everything I highlighted, but for one reason or another they all got postponed! Womp. Hopefully I’ll have a better luck this season than the last!

1. Fat Chance, Charlie Vega
by Crystal Maldonado
Publish Date: February 2, 2021
Rep in this book: Fat Rep, Latina Rep
I’m stoked to have gotten a copy of this book from my library so soon after the release date. Also, is it just me or is that cover just outstanding in every possible way? Look at the COLORS! I’m in love.

by Amanda Joy

Rep in this book: Black protagonist, Queer character, Own voices
After the total ride that was A River of Royal Blood (visit my review for details, CWs and character aesthetics) I have been patiently waiting for the sequel. Some big stuff was revealed at the end of book one and I’m excited to stay up all night finding out what happens next!

Another book where I have no idea what its about! We’re reading it in my book club, thought, and I was pumped to get my copy from the library. Also, can we please give a shout out to how libraries/library workers are total boss-champs!?

6. Folklorn
by Angela Mi Young Hur

Rep in this book: Korean Protagonist, Own voices
I have a sneaking suspicion that this book is going to wreck me. I think think that’s why I’ve been putting it off. I have decided that I’m now ready and willing to be thoroughly destroyed by what, according to everyone who has read it so far, is a really spectacular piece of fiction. Here we go!

7. A Peculiar Combination (Electra McDonnell #1)
by Ashley Weaver
Publish date: May 11, 2021
Rep in this book: n/a
I am such a sucker for period pieces. I have really enjoyed another of Ashley Weaver’s series of cozy mysteries with Amory Ames at the helm. And while the formula for Electra McDonnell looks to be vastly different I’m anticipating a fun little jaunt into the past with it as well!

Thanks!!! I have been saving ACOSF specifically for my bday and am committed to enjoying it even if it’s garbage. Haha. Some friends I trust have loved it, though! When do you think you’ll get around to reading it!?
